A Free-Verse to Christmas

Over the valley and through the woods
was how the song was sung
The horse knows the way,
but the family just stays
they let you drift away.

They don’t say it aloud,
shh.. (it’s because you are gay),
and they can’t agree.
So they rather ignore you’re alive.

Oh what a holiday
With no home at all
I’ll make the woods my friends.

For the fae know me there
And approach with no fear
I’m unique like they are
With wings made to soar

So fly I will
Over the valley,
through the woods
to find the abandoned

And make them feel chosen
A family of faeries,
A blessing of unicorns,
A coven of witches,
Were mythical,
magical
home.
