I am a transgender woman.

I wonder why I care what you think?

I hear your arrogant critique!

I see you avoiding me,

I want to know why you have this hate?

I am human too.

I pretend your silence doesn’t hurt,

I feel each scar from all your works.

The pain passed on like thunderbolts.

My heart is broken from your taunts.

I worry what the future holds,

will I have my rights denied?

I cry from family ties destroyed.

I am discarded from the fold.

I understand you have your faith but

I know God loves me too.

I dream of seeing tolerance.

I try to live fully like you.

I hope one day you learn to accept me.

I am a transgender woman.
