Why I won’t celebrate your “inclusive” church
Recently the United Methodist Church announced they will be allowing “traditionalists” to exit the denomination with an official vote coming this summer. With this news it seems I’m the target audience to approve and celebrate your church. Send me the news, the emails, the texts all about how you can now freely attend a church that affirms my “lifestyle”! As a trans woman I should be ecstatic right?
But let me be honest, and quite blunt.
I don’t care.
As a trans woman, as a lesbian, I don’t have to celebrate your “inclusive” church, and I frankly don’t care what your churches do anymore.
But why?
It doesn’t change anything. You don’t have skin in the game, and you haven’t acted like an ally. Even with more “corporate” splits among church denominations, the overall rhetoric of churches and Christians is not inclusive and it smells like bait.
